2026 Prague / ICA WG meeting/ Registration

The ICA Working Group on the History of Cartography warmly invites you to participate in its pre-conference meetig,Teaching the History of Cartography – New Opportunities and Challenges, held in Prague  on 6 July 2026 (Monday), 2:00–4:00 pm, in conjunction with the 2026 International Conference on the History of Cartography (https://ichc2026.org). The session will be built around short (c. 5-minute), informal contributions and open discussion.

We also welcome short contributions from ICHC participants — these may include good practices, personal experiences, work-in-progress, early ideas, or case-based reflections, including what worked and what didn’t. No formal presentation is required — slides are optional. The aim is to foster open exchange and discussion within the community. Contributions from early-career researchers and first-time presenters are especially welcome. Participation is free of charge.

Short contributions will be selected based on time availability. Due to time constraints, we may not be able to accommodate all short contributions, but we would be very happy to include your input in the discussion.

We prefer in-person participation but we will try to accommodate a limited number of online contributions. Online contributors should send pre-recorded presentation in advance.

The session revisits the ICA’s 1980s tradition in light of current technological and societal transformations, with a focus on practical and innovative approaches to teaching the history of cartography. The programme will include short informal presentations followed by a moderated discussion aimed at sharing experiences and fostering future collaboration.
