Proceedings of former HoC Commission’s Symposia

Note: The PDF files of the individual papers of the first two International Symposia (Utrecht 2006 and Portsmouth 2008) can be downloaded from their respective pages under Past Events. From 2010 till 2018, the proceedings of the symposia were published by Springer as part of their Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography Series. Since 2020, the proceedings are published open access in the official ICA Proceedings Series.

• Proceedings of the 8th International Symposium, Istanbul, 21-23 April 2020: ICA Proceedings Series  – Mapping the Ottoman Realm: Travelers, Cartographers and Archaeologists (planned 21-23 April 2020, Istanbul, Turkey – but actually moved to 2021 in Florence, Italy ) In 2020, the worldwide pandemic forced a late cancellation of the 8th symposium. As an alternative, authors of accepted presentations were encouraged to submit full papers on their work for publication in an open access proceedings volume, which can be found here: https://www.proc-int-cartogr-assoc.net/3/. The full story on the course the symposium took from spring 2020 to the summer of 2021.
